Post Panama Crafting Project

Recently, I have just come to the end of a 10 week stint of working our in Panama conducting some projects for my PhD. If this photos of a sloth tempts you to see what I've been up to I've got some little snippets and photos you can check out here.

Whilst away I'm so busy organising my work and collecting data that I barley have time to sleep and eat, let alone having the opportunity to experiment with a new recipe in the kitchen or have an evening to while away on a craft project. So as you can imaging I'm itching to get started now things are slightly more back to normal.
During my field work I spend endless days wearing my field boots and anti wasps protective gear, functional but not the most attractive of outfits. A such I decided that my first project when back would be to creating a new item of clothing. One that is feminine, flattering, full of colour and most of all does not involve some sort of trousers that you could zip off into shorts!

So new dress it is and as my favourite sister from Downton Abbey once said "is there anything more thrilling than a new frock!"

But then the puzzle began what dress to make. I then remembered that whilst away and reading up on some of my favourite blogs a beautiful dress made by Tilly and the Buttons. So I immediately rushed off in search of the pattern and some fabric from my local haberdashery and his is what I got!

So pattern at the ready, beautiful new material chosen and sewing machine out, think I'm ready to go.... watch this space dress is on its way!
